History and evolution of rabana

 

Rabana is one side played with the hand, used in sri lanka. It's mainly played aurudu games. Some people say's this drum is not in our tradition it came from indunisia.even now they have "ramana" it's same to our rabana. In the past we can see sri lankan's communicate their diplomatic, commercial ,religious and cultural relations with the indonesian island. Even can guess that rabana came from indonesia. But it from wich country now it has a strong relation with our tradition. 

We can see in ancient buildings such as lowamahapaya and mulkirigala temple also has ran players painting.

Finally we have to accept this cultural instrument has been with us since time immoral.
